Bob Adkinson is the Vice President of Technology and Information Systems at the Knoxville Tourism & Sports Corporation. The Knoxville Tourism & Sports Corporation is a private, not-for-profit corporation that has contracts with Knoxville and Knox County to strengthen the area of economy by marketing Knoxville as a destination for conventions, events and leisure travel.

Bob graduated from the University of South Florida with a Bachelor's degree in Geology, is a past member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, and a past board member and past president of the board of the East Tennessee Technology Access Center in Knoxville, a non-profit organization providing information and consulting on assistive technology for people with disabilities.

Bob's career started in the oil exploration industry as a geophysicist designing and interpreting well-site seismic surveys. As the need for field-based data processing and interpretation grew, Bob got involved with the rapidly growing personal computer industry. He later moved into personal computers full time with a move to Knoxville and eventual ownership of a personal computer sales and marketing company in Knoxville employing upwards of 50 people.

Bob is responsible for designing, installing and maintaining the corporation's network infrastructure as well as workstation equipment and software. He manages the technical aspects of KTSC's presence on the internet and manages technology needs for KTSC's many events and presentations in the Knoxville/Knox County area. Bob has most recently been involved in development and implementation of a web-based, multi-platform system providing rapid visitor access to information on businesses, government offices and hospitality industry vendors in the Knoxville/Knox County area.
