XTERRA RACES THEIR WAY BACK TO KNOXVILLE WITH FORKS OF THE RIVER
Forks of the River Wildlife Management Area (Knoxville, TN)
May 18th, 2008
10:00am - XTERRA returns to Knoxville May 18 for the second
installment of the 2008 Tennessee Trail Run Series with the XTERRA Forks
of the River Trail Run 10k. After getting their first taste of the
trails and learning the ropes, athletes are coming back with a vengeance
to run their way to the top of the series' leader board.
Set within the 331 acre Forks of the River Wildlife Management Area, the
6-mile trail run will throw athletes into a maze of dirt-covered trails
and deep, twisting woodlands. The course covers a variety of terrains
from calf-burning climbs to fast, spacious grasslands. Even while
jumping over rocks and avoiding hazardous obstacles, runners of all
abilities will enjoy the beautiful vistas as they overlook the French
Broad River.
Being the second of three races in the XTERRA 2008 Tennessee Trail Run
Series, returning athletes will be aiming to pad their total scores with
a strong finish while newcomers will be looking to catch up in the
points race by turning in the fastest times.
After the March 22nd XTERRA Seven Islands Trail Run, athletes are eager
to get back on the trails to show Knoxville nature they have what it
takes to win. One runner described the previous race, "Great course,
cool weather - fun, fun day!" Not one to disappoint, XTERRA will be out
there ready to live up to their expectations by creating the next
ultimate and exhilarating trail run experience.
