A Doll Makers Delight
Come early and stay late to enjoy the creative work of enthusiastic doll makers from around the globe at the International Doll Makers Association (IDMA) 2009 Convention, themed "Mountain Melody of Dolls." The convention will be held July 8-11 at the Crowne Plaza hotel in downtown Knoxville.
The convention will feature auctions, competitions, special souvenirs and a workshop hosted by Karen Martinez, in which guests can learn some of the most creative techniques in the doll making business.
A limited doll luncheon will also take place with featured artist Joyce Murch, who is known for her skillful doll making abilities and restoration. The luncheon will feature her magnificent reproduction of Baby Stuart, made in the Alp Mountain Theme to show the heritage of the East Tennessee region.
Additionally, a sales room will be available for purchasing dozens of doll creations from favorite artists.
The registration fee to the 2009 IDMA convention is $310. Annual IDMA membership dues of $30 must be current to attend the convention.
IDMA is a “sharing and caring” group of doll makers. In 1972, a small group of enthusiastic doll makers formed an organization in order to share dreams and ideas with doll makers in other parts of the world. The organization is known as International Doll Makers Association and the goals are still the same.
