Knoxville Visitor Center, WDVX host First Friday evening of entertainment
The Knoxville Visitor Center and WDVX will host their last First Friday celebration of the year on Friday, Dec. 5, beginning at 6 p.m. Entertainment will include Justin Townes Earle, son of legendary singer/songwriter Steve Earle, and Wade Hill and the Hillians, live on the WDVX stage located in the Visitor Center.
“We have some amazing entertainment this month on the WDVX stage,” said Alice Fleenor, director of visitor services of the Knoxville Tourism and Sports Corporation (KTSC). “We’re also excited about kicking off our December holiday specials, which include gourmet hot cocoa and hot apple cider, just in time for the WIVK/Fowler Christmas Parade.”
Justin Townes Earle will stop by the Visitor Center to perform a pre-show prior to his appearance at the Tennessee Theatre. Townes Earle has performed at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tenn. and released his debut album in March 2008 entitled “The Good Life,” which blends elements of old-time country, blues and rock ‘n’ roll.
Wade Hill and the Hillian’s music is a mix of bluegrass and country. Hill is one of the top-rated banjo pickers in the country, and hosts his own weekly television show entitled “Wade’s World,” airing Sundays at 8 p.m. on C-TV, Knoxville’s community access channel.
The Knoxville Visitor Center is located on the corner of Gay Street and Summit Hill Avenue in downtown Knoxville. The Visitor Center hosts the Blue Plate Special weekdays, which includes live music and lunch for purchase. The building also boasts the Café Gourmet Coffee Bar, carrying Goodson Brothers gourmet coffee and the Unique Knoxville gift shop.
