KTSC unveils new tourism technology

Today, during a press conference at the Knoxville Visitor Center, Assistant Commissioner of Community and Industry Relations for the State of Tennessee Department of Tourist Development (STDTD) Phyllis Qualls-Brooks, Knoxville Tourism & Sports Corporation (KTSC) president and CEO Gloria Ray and City of Knoxville Mayor Bill Haslam unveiled a form of technology that will make Knoxville stand out among other Tennessee cities.

TouchKnow&Go is a brand new kiosk system that allows users to find the perfect place in Knoxville to dine, stay, play golf, shop, enjoy a family friendly activity or just take a walk, among many other activities – all with just the touch of a button. Users simply walk up to the kiosk, push a few buttons and will be directed to whatever activity they are interested in. The TouchKnow&Go system also has a mobile version and an online component at www.TouchKnowandGo.com.

Today, the kiosk system was unveiled outside the Knoxville Visitor Center, in the Knoxville Convention Center (KCC) and in the Market Square District. A total of four kiosks will be available for tourists and residents, with two being in the KCC. This system is the first of its kind not only in Knoxville, but in the entire state of Tennessee.

“I commend the Knoxville Tourism & Sports Corporation for being innovators and bringing this TouchKnow&Go technology to Knoxville! I’m proud of KTSC for staying on top of what’s on the horizon technology-wise for tourism,” said Phyllis Qualls-Brooks, assistant commissioner of community and industry relations for the STDTD.

“Not only is Knoxville excited about this new technology, but the State of Tennessee tourism representatives are also ecstatic about the impact that TouchKnow&Go will have on our tourism industry. It’s so exciting to be the first in the state to do something like this,” said Gloria Ray, KTSC president and CEO.

“TouchKnow&Go is the perfect tool to help you make the most out of an outing in Knoxville. A system like this will encourage tourists to explore the city and see everything that Knoxville has to offer,” said Bill Haslam, mayor of the City of Knoxville.

The TouchKnow&Go outdoor kiosk systems, mobile and online components will be available for use 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
