March's Uniquely Fridays at the Knoxville Visitor Center

• WHAT: Uniquely Friday, a program highlighting local artists & talent

• WHEN & WHO:

o March 6 – Martha Woodward will be presenting her book, Knoxville’s 1982 World’s Fair, which was published in February 2009. A former school teacher, Woodward has also produced local cable access television show Homespun Hobbies for three years, and is now also a co-host on the weekly radio talk show “Salute America.” Woodward will speak about her passions in writing, journalism, television and radio production.

o March 13 – Bobbie Crews will display her watercolor paintings. Her work is very diverse, yet her passion is painting and drawing people. Her studio is in The Emporium building at 100 Gay St. and her website is www.BobbieCrews.com.

o March 20 – Megan Adair, a vernacular jazz dancer, will swing dance in the Visitor Center. Adair travels around the country and abroad in pursuit of lindy hop, Charleston and blues dancing. Visit her website at www.MeganAdair.com.

o March 27 – Representatives from Historic Homes of Knoxville. Members include the Blount Mansion, Crescent Bend, James White’s Fort, Mabry-Hazen House, Marble Springs and Ramsey House. The group will highlight each of these sites and provide information on upcoming historic home tours, combo tickets and more.

• TIME: All Uniquely Friday performances/demonstrations take place 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Fridays.

• WHERE: Knoxville Visitor Center, 301 S. Gay Street

• CALL TO ARTISTS: The Knoxville Visitor Center stage, located inside the Knoxville Visitor Center, is now open on Fridays to artist demonstrations, vocal groups, theatrical performances, gallery style shows and more!
