Young basketball stars meet in Knoxville
Knoxville will host more than 250 of the nation’s most coveted young basketball athletes during the Knox Vegas Heat Invitational, set for April 10-12 at Thompson-Boling Arena, Pratt Pavilion and area high schools.
This tournament is invitation-only and provides a platform for both basketball entertainment and selective recruiting. Numerous scouting analysts have referred to this tournament as the “Great Southeastern Show.”
The event is open to male youth clubs ages 12-17. A total of 192 teams are expected to compete.
Those competing are traveling to Knoxville from Wisconsin, Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, Maryland, Georgia, Florida, Kentucky, Alabama, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Kansas. Some of the elite teams who will attend the invitational include the Atlanta Celtics, Birmingham Storm, Memphis Magic, Jacksonville Nets and the St. Louis Majestics.
The Knox Vegas Heat tournament is open to the public. Ticket prices are $8 for adults and $5 for children on Friday and $12 for adults and $5 for children on Saturday and Sunday.
Competition times are 5-10 p.m. on Friday, 8 a.m. – 9 p.m. on Saturday and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
