Knoxville named to AOL.com Travel's list of the nation's top "One-Night Getaways"
Knoxville has been named to AOL.com Travel’s top 10 list of the nation’s most affordable “One-Night Getaway” vacation destinations in the United States for $150 or less.
AOL.Com Travel noted Knoxville was “full of free or nearly free activities” as well as mentioning affordable attractions such as the WDVX Blue Plate Special at the Knoxville Visitor Center, Ijams Nature Center and Long’s Drug Store.
Other tourism destinations recognized by the Internet site for their great travel values were Pensacola, Fla., Albuquerque, N.M., Door County, Wis., Fort Worth, Texas, St. Louis, Mo., Las Vegas, Boston, Providence, R.I., and San Diego.
“We are thrilled Knoxville has been included on a list with notable tourism destinations. We’ve always known that Knoxville has so many affordable attractions, festivals, and activities to offer our visitors and it’s great to see that others on a national scale are taking notice,” said Gloria Ray, Knoxville Tourism & Sports Corporation’s (KTSC) President and CEO.
The KTSC assisted AOL.com Travel’s Sally Walker Davies on her research of Knoxville during the development of the article.
