Care2 and Local Harvest are hosting this contest and will donate a total of $15,000 to local farmers’ markets across the United States. The first place winner will receive $5,000.
Every week, a randomly selected farmers’ market with at least five votes that week will win $250 and a randomly selected individual who voted that week will win a Care2 organic cotton tote bag. The ten individuals who recruit the most friends to vote will win $50 to use at their local farmers market and a Care2 organic cotton tote bag.
The Market Square Farmers’ Market captures one of the largest crowds in Knoxville every year. The Market takes place in the historic Market Square District, the site of Knoxville's original Market House. Every Wednesday and Saturday throughout the season, the Square is filled with local farmers, gardeners, bakers, and artisans, as well as performers and musicians. The farmers’ market is producer-only, meaning that everything at the market is grown fresh or made in East Tennessee.
