Meeting planners tour Knoxville
A select group of meeting planners who are interested in bringing business to the Knoxville area will tour the city’s venues, hotels and attractions September 4-7 as the Knoxville Tourism & Sports Corporation (KTSC) hosts its “Football & Fireworks” Familiarization Tour (FAM).
Traveling from California, Texas, Georgia, Tennessee, Missouri, Michigan, Illinois, Washington, D.C., Louisiana, Kentucky and Ohio, FAM attendees will experience Knoxville first-hand, in hopes of booking a possible future convention or event in the area.
A total of 33 attendees representing all markets, including religious, government, tour & travel, medical, trade and scientific will visit Knoxville during the tour. Planners represent events that would utilize downtown hotels, various venues and the Knoxville Convention Center.
The FAM will feature an opening lunch and showcase at the Knoxville Zoo from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 4. Besides touring local venues, hotels and attractions, the planners will also take in the University of Tennessee vs. Western Kentucky football game and the 2009 Chrysler Jeep Boomsday Festival, among other activities.
