Cleanup Day at the Mabry-Hazen House

On Saturday, March 20th the Mabry-Hazen House Museum, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, hosted their annual Cleanup Day. Every year volunteers help the Foundation by preparing the house and grounds for events held throughout the calendar year.

Board members assisted with the cleaning of the 152 year old home which includes the original collection of approximately 5,000 family heirlooms. This included washing the exterior, as well as cleaning the windows and dusting inside.

In addition, nearly 30 volunteers outside the Board attended the cleanup and helped with brush removal, weeding, painting, and general cleaning.

Located on 6 acres and situated on the highest hill east of downtown, the Mabry-Hazen House offers a panoramic view of Knoxville unlike no other. While one of the Foundation’s most well attended functions has been their Boomsday, Bluegrass, and BBQ event, there are many others to choose from that are sure to peak your interest.

Upcoming events include an Easter Egg Hunt on March 27th starting at 1pm, a Victorian Tea on May 23rd, and the Summer Solstice event on June 19th that will offer a few more surprises this year.
