The International Biscuit Festival Rises on Market Square

The first annual International Biscuit Festival comes to the Market Square District on June 4th and 5th, 2010. The inaugural event will be a celebration of that most perfect of foods – the Biscuit.

The festival will include a number of Biscuit related activities, including a Biscuit Bake Off, the Biscuit Boulevard tasting area, a Biscuit Breakfast, the Biscuit Film Festival and Biscuit Bookstore, competitions in Biscuit Art and Biscuit Songwriting, Biscuit Fun, the Biscuit Bolt road run, an Apron Exhibit, plus the competition for the coveted title of “Miss Biscuit.”

“We want to bring the world to Knoxville and the Biscuit to the world.” said John Craig, President of the Market Square District Association. “A Biscuit Festival has been a dream for many in this town for years. We just decided it was time to do it.”

The event features a full schedule of entertainment, headlined by Southern Culture on the Skids and their rockabilly stage show on Friday night, and comedienne Leanne Morgan, playing to her home town on Saturday night. Other performers include The Naughty Knots, The Black Bottomed Biscuits, Einstein Simplified and White Lightnin’ Burlesque.

Event sponsors include: Mast General Store, Clayton Bank, All Occasions Party Rentals, Yee-Haw Industries, Lodge Cast Iron, Hampton Inn and Suites Downtown, CBID and the City of Knoxville. For tickets, schedules and more information, go to BiscuitFest.com.
