The Knoxville Tourism and Sports Corporation is pleased to announce that Boomsday has been named “East Tennessee’s Best Outdoor Festival” for 2010.
Readers of Knoxville.com have named Boomsday the “Best Outdoor Festival” in East Tennessee. Readers voted from August 6 – 20, 2010.
Boomsday is a Labor Day weekend celebration, and hundreds of thousands of people gather along Neyland Drive in Knoxville to watch fireworks brighten the night sky. Attendees bring lawn chairs and enjoy a day of relaxing and celebrating the holiday weekend. Revelers enjoy food, live music and entertainment, and children light up at the games and inflatables. Hundreds of boats line the banks of Fort Loudoun Lake to also enjoy the Boomsday celebration.
Boomsday is the largest Labor Day fireworks display in the country.
Runners-up included the University of Tennessee football tailgating and Rossini Festival.
