Largest factory-sponsored motorcycle organization in the world finds event home in Knoxville

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Thousands of Harley Owners Group (H.O.G.) members from around the country will reunite once again for the Club H.O.G. Down Home: 24th Annual National Rally at Knoxville’s Chilhowee Park, August 24-25, 2007.
H.O.G. rallies take place all over the world, but this summer Club attendees will experience the panorama of the “Gateway to the Smokies.” More than one million members and around 1,400 chapters nationwide, H.O.G. will bring approximately 20,000 bikers to Knoxville to experience demo rides, bike competitions, workshops, seminars and live entertainment.
The event is primarily exclusive for H.O.G. members, but the public is encouraged to attend several activities throughout the event. On Thursday, August 23, don’t miss the early bird party, “Smoky Mountain Shindig: Where the HOG Meets the Dragon,” at the Smoky Mountain Harley-Davidson and Buell dealership in Maryville. The event is named after the “Tail of the Dragon,” an 11-mile stretch along U.S. Highway 129 that attracts bikers from around the world to challenge their riding skills on the 318 curves that form the tail. On Saturday morning, the public is invited to line the streets and cheer for the “Parade of Harleys,” where H.O.G. members will ride their bikes in parade-like style for on-lookers to admire.
For passionate H.O.G. members who enjoy a little competition, there will be a Ride-In Show contest where participants will compete for the Willie G. Ride-In Show Award. The entry fee of $5 will go to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
The rally will feature live performances from the award winning Harley-riding duo Montgomery Gentry, Big Head Todd & the Monsters, Cowboy Mouth and entertainment from the infamous Seattle Cossacks Stunt Team.
