Knoxville to be a puzzle on "Wheel of Fortune"

February 9, 2007 – KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Knoxville will gain international exposure as the “Wheel of Fortune” series will feature the city as a puzzle on the show airing on WBIR-TV Feb. 14, 2007, at 7 p.m. during “Wheel of Fortune’s” ‘Country Music Stars Week.’
Each week, more than 216 million people view “Wheel of Fortune,” which has been ranked as television’s top syndicated series for 89 consecutive sweeps rating periods. September 2006 marked the beginning of the show’s 24th season.
Named one of TV Guide’s “50 Greatest Game Shows of All Time,” “Wheel of Fortune” airs in 211 markets representing more than 99% of the U.S. and is aired internationally in Argentina, Columbia, France, Canada, Malaysia, Mexico, Singapore, Spain and Vietnam.
“Wheel of Fortune” has awarded more than $162 million in cash and prized to its contestants in its 23 years of syndication. Since 1989, the series has taped more than 45 remotes in more than 25 different cities. The show has also been taped in front of live audiences of more than 350,000 fans.
“Wheel of Fortune” also offers viewers a chance to interact with the show through the Wheel Watchers Club, the first online viewers loyalty program in the history of television. Its three million members win fantastic prizes, trips and cars by watching the show. Since its inception in 2003, the program has given away over $750,000 in rewards to its members.
