Doll and stuffed bear lovers to arrive in Knoxville for summer sale
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Collectors and dealers from across the country will travel to Knoxville for the Southeastern Doll & Bear Extravaganza this Saturday, Aug. 11 in the Jacob Building at Chilhowee Park. This year’s festivities will showcase the “Summer in the Smokies Show & Sale” theme.
The show is promoted in association with The East Tennessee Doll Club by Knight Shows & Events, who holds doll shows in four other southeastern states, including Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia.
The show also welcomes renowned doll artist, Linda Rick, known as “The Doll Maker,” for a doll signing in conjunction with Biltmore Village Dolls of Asheville, North Carolina. Photo opportunities with Rick will also be available to attendees.
Dealers will be attending from more than seven states, offering merchandise from rare antique dolls to used Barbie dolls. Glenn Mandeville, noted author, collector and columnist for Doll Reader, will be at the show offering free doll appraisal for one doll per person. Joining him will be Richard M. Chapman, who has written a series of articles on Mattel’s Barbie for Doll Reader. Both Mandeville and Chapmen will have a collection of dolls at the show and will be available for autographs.
There will be something for every doll and bear collector of all ages. Doll furniture, doll accessories, bears and miniatures will also be featured at the show.
The show and sale times are 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Admission for adults is $4 and children under 12 and uniformed Girl Scouts are admitted free. The East Tennessee Doll Club will donate a portion of their proceeds from the event to a local charity.
