Knoxville receives wide media exposure

Through the communications and public relations efforts of the Knoxville Tourism & Sports Corporation (KTSC), Knoxville has gained wide exposure in many top regional publications in 2007.For the past several years, KTSC has conducted efforts to bring many travel writers to Knoxville in an effort to produce print, television and radio exposure about the area. These bi-yearly press tours are direct results of KTSC hiring Geiger & Associates, the nation’s most prestigious tourism focused public relations and marketing firm, to develop and implement a campaign that will bring journalists to Knoxville for the specific purpose of generating editorial about the city’s many attributes.  The tours are also part of an effort to publicize Knoxville as a premier destination for tourists, meeting and sporting event planners and tour operators. In October 2007, KTSC sponsored a Geiger & Associates national press tour and the journalists’ visit included stops at Knoxville’s historical and cultural attractions, meeting facilities, hotels and restaurants. As a result of this tour, Marquee magazine published an article titled, “Knoxville’s Market Square,” which features the Market Square District and downtown Knoxville’s attractions. The six-page article highlighted not only restaurants and shops in the Market Square District, but also included brilliant photography and touched on Knoxville’s events and history.

The KTSC selected Geiger & Associates to produce press tours because of its 22-year reputation as the voice of authority within travel media circles.

The KTSC, a private 501 © 3 corporation, was formed in August 2002 and has contracts with both the City of Knoxville and Knox County to strengthen the area economy by marketing Knoxville as a destination for sporting events, conventions and leisure travel.
