Southern Humanities Council Conference celebrates “Home”
Downtown Knoxville will become a little more creative Feb. 8-10 as the “Celebrating Home” themed Southern Humanities Council (SHC) Conference will set up shop at the downtown Hilton and feature poets, creative writers and artists, among other scholars.The SHC Conference offers opportunities for the general public to experience the different works of academic and independent scholars, artists, poets and creative writers who are all interpreting the same theme: “Celebrating Home.”“The Southern Humanities Council is thrilled to come to Knoxville because of its vibrant downtown life. Our members love to be in a community that enjoys its downtown space and celebrates that space with great art, music, food and hotel accommodations – all things that contribute to good conversation,” said Mark Ledbetter, SHC Executive Director.Event hours are Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m.–7 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m.–12 p.m. Admission is $25 per person per day on Friday and Saturday, and $10 per person on Sunday.
