Meeting planners “Look What’s Cooking in Knoxville”

Meeting planners and organizational representatives will have the opportunity to experience Knoxville when the Knoxville Tourism & Sports Corporation’s (KTSC) hosts its “Look What’s Cooking in Knoxville” Spring Familiarization Tour (FAM).

The FAM, which runs March 27-30, provides meeting planners the chance to see Knoxville as an attractive and competitive convention and meeting destination. The event itinerary is designed to highlight Knoxville-based accommodations, facilities, attractions and services.

“This is a unique first-hand experience we’re offering meeting planners to showcase the many outstanding things about the Knoxville area,” said Kim Paul, KTSC Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “Approximately 95 percent of our FAM attendees have never visited Knoxville, so the itinerary shows off the best of Knoxville in an effort to generate new business.”

To date, 14 guests are scheduled to attend the FAM. This number includes 11 meeting planners from Arizona, Colorado, South Carolina, North Carolina, Missouri, Ohio, Tennessee, New Jersey, Oklahoma and New Hampshire that represent all markets, from religion to hobbies and group tours.

Additionally, representatives from third-party meeting planning organizations like Experient and ConferenceDirect will also be in attendance at the FAM. Experient represents more than 3,000 yearly events and ConferenceDirect represents more than 900 customers and books more than 5,200 meetings per year.

The FAM kicks-off March 27, at 5:30 p.m. with an opening reception at the Knoxville Visitor Center followed by a shopping trip to downtown’s Mast General Store.

The schedule for Friday and Saturday includes tours of Knoxville’s many attractions, museums and meeting venues.
