2008 National Street Rod Association (NSRA) Street Rod Nationals South Fact Sheet

What: 34th Annual National Street Rod Association (NSRA) Street Rod Nationals South, the region’s largest street rod show


When:


Friday – Sunday, May 2-4

Saturday, May 3: 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.


Sunday, May 4: 8:30 a.m. – 2 p.m.


Who: 20,000 street-rod enthusiasts


Where: Chilhowee Park and Exposition Center


Features: More than 3,000 pre-1949 street rods from the southeastern United States and farther. A street rod is defined as a modernized vintage automobile that must have been manufactured in 1948 or earlier. Many include modernized technology such as air conditioning and exotic stereo systems and many have been refurbished back to their original body and make.


Attraction: The street rods being shown are valued between $8,000 to $100,000 each with an average of $28,000 per vehicle. The street rods in attendance will be worth more than $100 million combined.


Activities: Cars will be on display for spectators to enjoy viewing throughout the day and will be entered in a variety of events, including Pro’s Picks, 29 Below Rodders, and NSRA Safety Inspection. Live entertainment will also be provided. More than $100,000 in Super Prize giveaways and a special Sunday $weep$take$ giveaway will be presented to the participants of the Street Rod Nationals South, compliments of the National Street Rod Association.


Ceremony: On Sunday, the award-winning street rods, named the “Circle of Winners,” will rally on the grounds for participants to admire. The awards ceremony will follow on the outdoor stage.


Trade Show: More than 125 manufacturers and dealers of automotive equipment will be displaying and selling their goods including parts, accessories and supplies during all three days. There will be a special “Women’s World” section to feature the arts and crafts from the areas artisans and the “vintage parts swap meet” will return to offer used or original automotive parts for sale.

Adults: $14 per person


Children (6-12 years): $5 per child


Children (5 & under): Free


Discount prices for: Senior Citizens (60 & older), Military personnel, and NSRA members (One $2 discount ticket offer per identification)

All activities are open to the public. Tickets on sale at Chilhowee Park gates ONLY during the event.


Producer: The National Street Rod Association, the world’s largest street rod sport sanctioning organization, with more than 53,000 members worldwide is producing the event.


Economic Impact: $21.6 million for the Knoxville/Knox County area
