Greater Knoxville Tourism Awards on Thursday, May 1 at 11:30 a.m. at The Foundry on World's Fair Park

Knoxville Tourism Alliance (KTA) membership will hold its annual Greater Knoxville Tourism Awards and Scholarship Luncheon on Thursday, May 1, 2008 at 11:30 a.m. at the The Foundry on World’s Fair Park.


KTA will present the PAULY Awards to individuals and businesses in the following categories:


- Lodging General Manager of the Year
- Restaurant General Manager of the Year
- Museum/Attraction of the Year
- Service/Supplier of the Year
- Lodging Employee of the Year
- Restaurant Employee of the Year
- Museum/Attraction Employee of the Year
- Service/Supplier Employee of the Year
- Community Service Volunteer of the Year
- Friendliest Face


The PAULY Awards are sponsored in part by The University of Tennessee Tourism Institute to recognize the leadership of Paul Sherbakoff, a driving force behind many tourism efforts in Knoxville.


Knoxville Tourism & Sports Corporation (KTSC) will present the Tourism Impact Award (TIA) to recognize an individual, business or organization that has done an outstanding job of promoting the Knoxville area as a destination.


Sam Venable, storyteller, humorist and columnist for the Knoxville News Sentinel is this year’s guest speaker. State of Tennessee Department of Tourist Development Commissioner Susan Whitaker will also be a distinguished guest of the program.


Students from Pellissippi State Technical Community College and the University of Tennessee will also be awarded scholarships from KTA.


The KTA Scholarship Program is designed to recognize those students who are furthering their education in the tourism, lodging or hospitality industry through dedicated effort of excelling in study, work and related school activities that enhance goals in high standards.
