Largest Ford F-100 truck show celebrates 30th anniversary
Calling all Ford F-100 truck lovers! The 30th Annual F-100 Supernationals & Ford Family Reunion, the largest F-100 truck show in the world, will bring more than 900 of your closest friends to Knoxville's Chilhowee Park May 15-17.
With family-friendly activities during the weekend such as vendor exhibits, food and music plus giveaways, this event is sure to be a fun-filled blast! More than 250 awards will be distributed, including the highly coveted "Truck of the Year" award, during "A Nite at the Effie Oscars" on Saturday night. An "Effie" is a small statue award given to winners that resembles an Oscar award.
"2008 is an especially exciting year for the F-100 Supernationals and Ford Family. We are excited to be a part of the celebration and take part in this special anniversary," said Gloria Ray, President and CEO of Knoxville Tourism & Sports Corporation (KTSC).
2008 marks the fifth year that Knoxville has played host to the F-100 Supernationals. The event welcomes attendees from all 50 states as well as international guests from Japan, England, Sweden, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Ecuador and many more.
All Ford trucks may be registered for the event, including Rancheros, Lightning trucks and Harley-Davison trucks. The classic F-100 truck remains the star and theme of the show.
The event is open to the public and the hours are from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. all three days. The opening ceremony begins at 10 a.m. on Thursday and the closing ceremony is on Saturday at 6 p.m. Tickets may be purchased at the Chilhowee Park gates. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for senior citizens (65 and over) and children ages 12 and under are admitted free with an accompanied adult. A three-day pass may be purchased for $15.
The KTSC projects that the F-100 Supernationals & Ford Family Reunion will have a local economic impact of $722,200.
