Meeting planners enjoy all that west Knoxville has to offer
West Knoxville will be featured this May 16-18 as event and meeting planners and organizational representatives will have the opportunity to tour the area's hotels, attractions, and venues, among other sites.
This familiarization tour (FAM) is the first of its kind to solely feature west Knoxville locations. The theme is "Look What's Cooking in West Knoxville," and the Knoxville Tourism & Sports Corporation (KTSC) will host the group.
The FAM, which includes 19 meeting planners and nine guests, will provide the attendees the opportunity to see Knoxville as an attractive and competitive convention and meeting destination. This particular FAM is focused on bringing in convention and event business of 200 attendees or less with minimal meeting space needed and a peak of approximately 100 hotel rooms or less.
The meeting planners in attendance are traveling to Knoxville from Georgia, Virginia, Illinois and California. Nineteen total companies and associations will be represented, ranging from the Centers for Disease Control to the United States Department of Labor.
"We are extremely excited to host this inaugural FAM in west Knoxville. While we continue to have the tie in to the downtown area with our ‘Showcase of Knoxville' that accompanies every FAM we host, this will give us the opportunity to also feature a completely different side of Knoxville," said Kim Paul, KTSC Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing. "These meeting planners host local, regional and national events and conventions of different sizes, so this FAM is sure to bring in new and exciting business for the Knoxville area."
The FAM kicks-off May 16 at noon with a lunch and showcase at the Rothchild's Catering & Conference Center, followed by a tour of Farragut Folklife Museum.
Other stops along the "Look What's Cooking in West Knoxville" FAM include the Pinnacle at Turkey Creek shopping center, several west Knoxville hotels and enjoying a "Behind the Scenes Tour" at the Regal Pinnacle 18 Theatre.
