Emporium Center for Arts & Culture
In July 2004, Knoxville's first true arts center opened in downtown at 100 South Gay Street. The 23,000 square feet of flexible use space now houses the Emporium Center Gallery, Three Flights Up Gallery, the administrative offices of the Arts & Culture Alliance, and nine other arts and cultural organizations. Additionally, the building houses studio and gallery space for eight individual artists. The Alliance's Emporium Center project was designed to attract more visitors to downtown to enjoy arts and cultural programming and conduct arts-related business. At the same time, the project provides affordable space for a critical mass of arts and culture organizations and artists, generates coordination and joint promotion of arts and culture activities, and provides another valuable attraction in a revitalized downtown.
Eastbound on I-40
Take Exit 388 onto Henley Street/441 South; bear right immediately toward Route 62 (Western Avenue/Summit Hill). At the light, turn left onto Western Avenue which becomes Summit Hill. At the third light, turn left onto Gay Street. The Emporium is at the end of the block on the right (100 S. Gay Street).
Westbound on I-40
Take Exit 388 onto Henley Street/441 South. At the light, turn right onto Western Avenue which becomes Summit Hill. At the third light, turn left onto Gay Street. The Emporium is at the end of the block on the right (100 S. Gay Street).
Southbound on I-275
Take I-275 to I-40 East. Take Exit 387 (Western Avenue/17th Street) and bear right off the exit onto Ailor Avenue. Follow Ailor through the first light, and then turn right at the stop sign onto Route 62 (Western Avenue). Western Avenue becomes Summit Hill. At the third light, turn left onto Gay Street. The Emporium is at the end of the block on the right (100 S. Gay Street).
From U.S. 441 (Chapman Highway)
Drive NORTH on Chapman Highway SW/TN-71/US-441. Turn right onto Summit Hill Drive. Turn left onto Gay Street. End at 100 S. Gay Street.
From the UT Campus Area or Kingston Pike
Drive NORTHEAST on W. Cumberland Avenue SW/US-11/TN-1/US-70. Turn left onto 11th Street. Turn right onto Western Avenue. Western Ave. becomes W. Summit Hill Drive. Turn left onto S. Gay Street. End at 100 S. Gay Street.
From the Airport
Drive NORTH on Airport Highway/US-129 N/Alcoa Highway/TN-115 N toward Payne Avenue for approximately 11 miles. Merge onto I-40 E and take Exit 388 onto Henley Street/441 South; bear right immediately toward Route 62 (Western Avenue/Summit Hill). At the light, turn left onto Western Avenue which becomes Summit Hill. At the third light, turn left onto Gay Street. The Emporium is at the end of the block on the right (100 S. Gay Street).
